We have great conversations around the fire.
I LOVE sleeping on the porch! Even when it's cold!
Early morning coffee with great friends and a view like this...
Thank you God for the Darlin' Dixie Divas!

Sandra T's November 2011 journal entry
November 3, 2011
Scott and I are still traveling whenever we can….Now that Aaron is done with the school part on the island of St. Maarten, our travels are close to home. The Good Lord willing, we will make our annual ski trip to Colorado during spring break.
I’m looking forward to our DDD gathering….and I’m hoping for a record number this year! Please, everyone…make an effort to be with us no matter where we are!
E-mail me your stories and pictures and I will add them to the blog....if you want to be an editor, let me know.
Hello, my friends! From reading the journal posts so far, it seems we all have about the same feelings about turning 60! Unbelievable, right?! Where did the time go? I’m so thankful for most of what time has brought me! Four awesome grandchildren! Of course, they are the most beautiful, handsome, smart grandkids ever created!!! LOL! Jack Aaron is now 17 and a senior at Zachary High school trying to decide on his future. Kade at 14 is a freshman at Monterey and playing baseball and basketball. Arden, Jack’s sister is within days of turning 13 and of course thinks she’s about 21! She just finished up a season of fall softball and is looking forward to playing volleyball at the Jr. High in Zachary. Madison, our baby, is in the fifth grade here at Monterey. She loves cheering, dancing and playing softball.
I love having my daughter Amber teaching here at Monterey and living within walking distance of me. We eat lunch together most days….actually about our only time for a little chat! Aaron is still in med school completing his required rotations….at Baton Rouge General for the next few weeks and then on to Shreveport. The family will stay in Zachary as most rotations will be completed in or near Baton Rouge.Scott and I are still traveling whenever we can….Now that Aaron is done with the school part on the island of St. Maarten, our travels are close to home. Big Mamou
Any of you headed to Houston, go eat with Brenda and Rufus Estis at the Big Mamou. Great food, super location, charming cottage. The shrimp and crawfish etoufee was goooood! As were the beignets. Gail

I'm working on photographs but in the meantime, here's April's (middle daughter) blog where you can see Julian (born on Mary Ann's birthday) Nov. 9. http://themcgels.blogspot.com/
Midori Sours
I've been working my way through a cocktail recipe book Mika (my oldest daughter) gave me and so here's one of my favorites.
Midori Sour
3 tablespoons Midori (or other melon flavored liqueur)
1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon simple syrup
Shake well with ice and strain into glass of your choice.
Simple Syrup I make and keep in the refrig - boil 1 cup water with 3/4 cup sugar until the sugar is dissolved.
Another one I like is
Black Eyed Susan Cocktail
3/4 cup orange juice
1/2 cup pineapple juice
3 tablespoons vodka
3 tablespoons white rum
2 tablespoons orange liqueur
Stir together then pour over crushed ice in two glasses. Garnish with fresh lime slices and cherries.
Cheers

2010
A rainy day tried to interfere with our 2010 Darlin' Dixie Diva weekend, but we fooled Mother Nature by having a great time anyway. We kept a nice fire going in the fireplace, watched the Saints play some awesome football, ate delicious food, and of course danced and sang the night away!

We bundled up against the cool wind and rain to watch the Saints win!

A special visitor: Mrs. Anna Clayton.
