Belgium 2008

Buddy and I just returned from Belgium after visiting with Michael and his family for two weeks. He is a Captain in the Air Force and stationed over there.

He said that they were assured that it never snowed there but we had over a foot of snow and a blizzard for 3 days. The main focus was getting to be with all of them and we really didn't care what the weather was like.

In Memory of Jerry

Representing the class of '69 at Jerry's wake (that I saw tonight, Tue., Sept. 30): Ricky Kennedy, Terry Wagner, Gary Dale Wike, Sandra Colvin McGlothin, Sandra Loomis Tiffee. If others attended the wake or funeral please let me know.

Class of '69

Our hearts are saddened to hear the news of the death of Jerry Glass. His wake will be held Tuesday, September 30, at the Methodist Church in Jonesville, La. from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be on Wednesday at 10:00 also at the Methodist Church. It would be great if we could share our memories of Jerry in the comment section below.

We do have fun at DDD gatherings!

Okay girls, let's get something going here. You've heard from Mary Ann and I have e-mailed you about the blog. This is an awesome way to stay connected. Even if you aren't comfortable using a blog and posting, you can at least make comments by clicking on "comment" at the end of each post. Well, we got our yard cleaned up but there is not anything that we can do about the lake. It is above the seawall and up in our yard about two feet. The piers around us are all under water. Our walkway is still out of water but the end of the pier and our boathouse are under water. We still are lucky because down the road people have water in their houses (camps).

Gustav

I hope all Divas play it safe during the onslaught of Gustav. Tinker and her mom  are staying with family and I am waiting on family (with their horses) to arrive from South Louisiana. My grand-daughter Arden moved her horse from Monterey to Vidalia to be a little closer to her today. Scott is frantically trying to harvest crops that are ready.  Concordia Parish schools are closed through Wednesday (as of today, 8/30/08). We'll see what happens. Please stay in touch! I visited with Sandra Mc. a few minuets last week. She is so excited about her new grand baby. Her daughter Amber has given birth to her 1st one. She is waiting on another one soon as son Cliff and his wife Crystal are expecting.

Cheri

I am still trying to get my mind around the fact that Cheri is really gone. She and Mike came to every Class of '69 event that we had. She called me often (her email was down) to make sure that she wasn't missing any DDD trips. She also volunteered to help anytime that we got together. If we didn't need her to bring anything, she would show up with something anyway. We never will be able to get her "punch" recipe now (remember she was so secretive about it at one of our DDD get togethers). She will be missed...

Diva Blog Restrictions

It has been suggested by several Divas that we limit access to this blog to Divas only. I will wait a week or so to see if there is any opposition to this, then I will block it to only the Darlin Dixie Divas. This means that if you want mom, sister, friend, etc. to look at this site they will not be able to (unless you give them your sign in info). Another option is to limit access to only those people we want to view. I think we can have up to 100 viewers. This will let family and friends log on to read about us, but keep it away from just anybody on the World Wide Web. Please comment.

2009 is our 40th...Sherry and I, along with others, are already planning the big day. We think that one long day (and night) will be enough. We will let you know as soon as we come up with a date. Of course we will have food, music and good memories to share.
